The Benefits Of Having A Signal Booster

Being connected to a mobile provider and the Internet is a necessity nowadays in this highly digital world. However, despite the advances in technology and infrastructure, mobile connectivity still remains spotty and unreliable in some cases, even in urban settings.

Investing in a cellular booster is a workaround to solving bad mobile connectivity and boosting cell phone signal. It may come at a hefty price, but when your livelihood is dependent on a stable, workable mobile and Internet connection, the investment is worth it. Let’s examine the benefits of having a signal booster device.

More reliable cellular connectivity

As it says on the tin, a signal booster greatly improves existing cell phone signals in the area. This generally translates to a stronger signal strength for your mobile phone, which means better quality of calls, less dropped calls, and more responsive text messaging. Connectivity to mobile Internet services is also improved, as well as more stability in upload and download speeds through 3G and LTE Internet.

How a signal booster works

A typical signal booster kit usually comes in 4 parts: an exterior antenna, interior antenna, the booster unit, and cabling. Here’s how they come together to improve mobile connectivity.

The exterior antenna draws in existing nearby cellular signals in the area. This antenna is more precise than your phone’s built-in antenna, which means that it can detect the faintest signals that your handset probably can’t. After it draws in these signals, it sends it over to the booster unit through the cabling.

The booster unit works its magic and amplifies the signals it receives from the exterior antenna. It then sends the newly boosted signals over to the interior antenna for rebroadcasting. The interior antenna then does its role of spreading the boosted signals over a given area.

More on mobile signals

Mobile signal strength determines how reliable your connection is to your cellular carrier. In urban settings, most of the time, given the availability of nearby cell sites, your signal strength is usually high.

However, most man-made things can block and repel mobile signals. Steel, cement, wood, reflective glass can hinder mobile signals. Ever wonder why you always have zero to low signal strength in basements and underground parking lots? That’s the reason.

Even natural and topographical features can play a part in bad signal reception. Some atmospheric conditions can deteriorate cell phone signals. Most foliage can absorb mobile signals, which explains why you generally have bad signal reception in thick, forested areas of a park. A hill, cliff, or mountain can block your line of sight to a cell tower and can completely shut down your connection to it.

A signal booster kit can bypass a lot of these limitations easily as a reliable workaround. Of course, you have to have a mobile provider operating in the area first, and be within the service coverage, for the booster device to work.

The need for a signal booster kit

If you’re an individual who has a job or business that’s reliant on cellular and mobile Internet connectivity, it’s almost a given that you’d need to invest in a signal booster kit. Doing so ensures that you never have to worry about unreliable mobile reception ever, barring any announced or unforeseen service interruptions.
