    WordPress is the most popular content management system for websites on the internet, the platform was founded in 2003 by web developers Mike Little and Matt Mullenweg and is now used by an estimated 75 million plus websites which is even more impressive considering there are an estimated 172 million websites on the internet according to a survey conducted by Internet services company Netcraft. Many people are surprised that such a simple platform that is accessible to everyone is used by top websites on the internet that get millions of visits a month, so in this article, we are going to provide you with a list of websites using WordPress.

    Quartz

    Quartz is a New York-based business news site that was founded in 2012 and quickly became one of the most popular websites on the internet thanks to its quality reporting, in 2018 it was sold for an undisclosed amount said to be between $75 million and $110 million to a Japanese media company.

    Listverse.com

    Listeverse is the top ‘listicle’ website on the internet, averaging 5 to 6 million visits a month. The website is known for its viral articles that focus on mysteries, history, science, and creepy topics. Listverse was founded in 2007 and has for over a decade remained one of the biggest content sites, in part thanks to its ‘Creator Program’ where everyone is able to submit articles to be published on the website and also be rewarded with a payment of $100 if their article gets approved by the Listverse team.

    Global News is one of the top news websites in Canda with an average of 30 to 25 million visits a month. The Global News firm also owns 15 regional television stations all around Canada making it one of the biggest television companies in the country.

    Fortune magazine along with Forbes is the leading business magazine and website in the world, the Fortune website receives an average of 8 million visits a month. The media company is responsible for publishing the prestigious ‘Fortune 500’ list which lists the top 500 companies in the world by revenue.

    The Walt Disney Company

    The Walt Disney Company is one of the top 10 biggest entertainment companies in the world with revenues of close to $60 billion a year. The Wal Disney Company is responsible for famous films such as Aladdin, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Frozen and Beauty, and the Beast just to name a few. The Walt Disney Company also owns massive resort complexes in the United States, France, Japan, and China.

    WordPress is undeniably an awesome platform, it is very simple and easy to use (some may even call it minimalistic). At the same time is very powerful, effective and customizable which is what makes it such a successful platform.
