One of the highlights of this year's SXSW for me so far has been the Social Media Nonprofit ROI Poetry Slam where a rockstar lineup of panelists put explaining the value and return on investment of social media to poetic verse. Literally.
David Neff of the American Cancer Society and FI Space blog,Carie Lewis of the Humane Society, Danielle Brigida of the National Wildlife Federation and Wendy Harman of the American Red Cross all put on a top nptch performance, complete with appropriate costumes, accessories and yes, measuring tape (to signify the "measuring" of ROI). And from whimsical Edgar Alan Poe and rapping Fresh Prince of Bell Air to silly Dr. Seuss and the dark and poetic beatnik, the panelists each stayed in perfect character throughout the useful an hilarious session. And big props to the wonderful judges Geoff Livingston, KD Paine, Holly Ross and of course the moderator extraordinaire Beth Kanter.
Some of the main points covered by the panelists included:
Thanks to Beth and Holly, you can enjoy the full length video of the performances and slideshare presentation below.
