I've been pleasantly surprised by the presence of socially-responsible chatter and nonprofit technology at this year's South by Southwest Interactive conference. And while the nonprofit technology crowd is out in full force, I've also seen a great deal of general technology and interactive thought leaders taking an interest in using technology for social good, especially when it comes to social media.
I had the pleasure of catching Jeremiah Owyang (@jowyang), Senior Analyst of Social Computing at Forrester and author of the Web Strategist blog, in the halls of SXSW for a quick video interview on how he thinks people can be harnessing social media and the Internet for social good.
His top tips included:
1. Try to understand which technology your audience uses
2. Decide on what your goals and objectives are
3. Measure your successes to learn for the next time
